Introduction:
NAZIR (Natun Zibon Rochi) entrains. “a new life starts”, is a voluntary Non-Government Organization formed by a group of competent and humanitarian professionals to address the underlying problems of individuals and society. It is located in Lalmonirhat and started functioning and implementing developmental activities in February 1997.
BACKGROUND:
NAZIR programs cover the Lalmonirhat District which is situated at the north side border of Bangladesh. It is a part of the Rangpur Division. There are five sub-districts namely Lalmonirhat Sadar, Aditmari, Kaliganj, Hatibandha and Patgram. Lalmonirhat is one of the poorest districts in the country which is crisscrossed by many rivers and tributaries. The district comprises an area of 1,241 square kms. With a population of 12,56,009 (as of 2022) of which less than 50% lives in extreme poverty level.
NAZIR has been formed to alleviate poverty and socio-economic emancipation of the majority population and supplement or complement the facilities and resources of the existing service providers whose interventions are insufficient to address the need and requirement of the target population through comprehensive efforts.

OBJECTIVE OF NAZIR
NAZIR has been working with a society where in common people will resume supreme in shaping their future. There will be peaceful, healthy and democratic society where poor and hard core poor including all minorities /ethnics are empowered, economically self-reliant ongoing equitable secured environment for which set up of objective has been chosen through which gradually and effective and positive change and takes place. Here people will unleash their potential in creating a just and all round sustainable development with their whole headed participation. Following are the main objectives of NAZIR:
=> To improve economic security of the targeted population through capacity building, skill development and IGA.
=> To empower all destitute, hard core poor, children, women and disabled.
=> To establish strong working relationship between organization, people and government machineries and with other related organizations.
=> To empower all disabled through providing life base training, Technical education and enable them to establish rights in the society.
=> To ensure involvement and participation among all stakeholders in the process.
=> To increased agro-based homestead production and thus increasing food security at family level.
=> To protect environmental degradation and pollution.
=> To create / strengthen local women leaders so that they participate in the movement of reducing violence against women.
=> To reduce Gender inequality in the family as well as in the society
Gender Equality
Gender discrimination is the alarming reality in our society and state. Significant gender differences with regard to education, employment and erring remain a major concern. NAZIR is gender sensitive organization. That is dedicated to reduce gender gap towards gender equity. NAZIR has been encouraging women’s participation in all its activities. NAZIR is conducting some specific interventions on gender issues like birth registration, marriage registration, early marriage and violence against women as a pilot program. Under this program NAZIR has formed different committees comprising representatives from all walks of life in the community. These committees are known as GCA (Gender Change Agent). GCA’s are playing vital role in implementing the all interventions under the program. GCA’s are well trained up by the organization for the smooth management of program related activities. These committees are well functioning at present in support of the program. These committees are such as women entrepreneurs, male entrepreneurs and student volunteers. Positive attitude are seen towards the program in community.
THEMATIC AREA OF NAZIR
1. Poverty alleviation through providing income-generating projects, skills, development Training, Micro-credit and savings;
2. Agricultural program such as awareness-raising on environmental degradation, soil Health management, field crops, homestead gardening, fish and livestock rearing;
3. Prevention of occurrence and rehabilitation of persons with physical and mental Disabilities.
4. Women empowerment.
5. Promote social change through human development training, direct assistance and institution building;
6. Access to technical education & mainstream education.
7. Disaster management.
8. Child labour reduction through technical education.
TARGET GROUP:
Particularly NAZIR is working for neglected distressed people of the area. The targeted people of organization are disabled person, drop out students from regular education, landless and asset less people, unemployed, illiterate, neglected back ward people of the society and marginal farmers. Organization is always concern to cover women folk taking member participants of the project activities.
Target Group / Participants Criteria:
=> Landless and marginal farmers.
=> Hard core poor.
=> Vulnerable children and disabled.
=> Adolescent
=> All classes of people with regard to health, family planning and HIV AIDS.
